Kathmandu University School of Medical Sciences (KUSMS) [1] is one of the seven schools of Kathmandu University running medical, nursing and allied health science program. KUSMS is a collaborative program of Kathmandu University and Dhulikhel Hospital.Nepal. KUSMS was set up in 1994.[2] Manipal College of Medical Sciences in Pokhara was the first medical college to be granted affiliation. Since then, KUSMS has granted affiliation to several medical colleges around the country. B.P. Koirala Institute of Health Sciences (BPKIHS) was established on Jan 18, 1993 and subsequently upgraded as an autonomous Health Sciences University on Oct 28, 1998 with a mandate to work towards developing socially responsible and competent health workforce, providing health care & involving in innovative health research. The Institute, located in Eastern Nepal, has extended its continued health services through teaching district concept to Primary Health Care Centers, District Hospitals and Zonal Hospitals in different districts of the region. This University is aptly named after Bisheshwar Prasad Koirala, Nepal’s visionary leader in social uplifting, firm believer of national integration. MCOMS provides a four-and-a-half-years MBBS degree program in all the preclinical subjects and selected clinical subjects. The four-and-a-half years MBBS course is divided into 9 semesters of 6 months each. Upon successful completion of the course, students will undergo a 1 year compulsory residential rotating internship. The medium of instruction is English. Approx 1700 students have passed out of MOCMS till date & most of these graduates have successfully qualified for USMLE (USA), PLAB (UK), ERPM (Sri-Lanka), AMC (Australia) with commendable scores and also completed their post-graduation in USA, Canada, UK, South Africa & Australia.
